Commissioner Georgieva visits Bulgarian secondary school

On 31 May, the Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Kristalina Georgieva, met secondary school students in the north Bulgarian town of Elena, at the heart of the Balkan mountain range.

Students from 8, 9, 10 and 11th grade, aged 13 – 17 years, were from high school "Ivan Momchilov" in Elena and actively participated in the meeting. They asked the Commissioner various questions, including her vision of the European Union and her opinion on the education reform plans in Bulgaria. From her side, the Commissioner asked the students what being European represents for them.

The meeting between Commissioner Georgieva and the students took place in the framework of the "Back to school" initiative and the Spring Day for Europe 2010 campaign, which aims to help students think about Europe and express their views.
